Just as in Hollywood, porn has its prestige movies. These are high-budget scripted affairs using multiple locations and all-star casts. Where most U.S.-made porn movies that find their way to store shelves and VOD downloads cost between $15k and $30k, "Corruption" cost over $150k, not including marketing.
But in the era of falling DVD sales it is often a movie that might lose money that convinces consumers the producing studio's other titles are worthwhile. Especially if that movie is tailor-made to win AVN awards.
The movie opens as Senator David Walker Helms (Bryn Pryor) rehearses his campaign speech to a mirror. He knots and reknots his tie as his slave Natasha (Hillary Scott) blows him below. Thus begins an ambitious tale of a power-hungry misanthrope's unraveling.
Corruption is a white collar sexy-bleak porn movie about men and power. No one wears board shorts, calls each other "Brah", high-fives over a pouty stripper's ass, or addresses the camera. Instead the men wear suits and the women don't dress like hookers. It is very, very dark, both thematically and in its photography, and there is more "acting" in it than any hardcore movie, ever.
Corruption is not a feel-good movie. It is, in fact, relentlessly depressing. Pryor's Helms has nothing but contempt for his constituents. It should be no surprise that he reserves his greater hate for himself, often daydreaming about cutting his own throat. His wife, Catherine (Kylie Ireland), supports his whoremongering as long as it doesn't lose votes.
Helms meets with some shady union officials, led by Gennero (Herschel Savage). They discuss killing a clean air act that would be good for the state but would harm Gennero's business interests. Speaking of business, the full name of the bill is the Kernes/Fishbein Clean Air Act. Coincidentally, Kernes and Fishbein are the surnames of the senior editor and president, respectively, of AVN.
Not about to be bullied, Helms videotapes Gennero being serviced by Natasha for blackmail purposes.
When Catherine determines Natasha is more of a liability than a wholesome means of her husband blowing off loads, she colludes with Helms' assistant, Ms. Perkins (Alana Evans) to do something about it. Natasha is kidnapped and brought to a boiler room (Freddie's from A Nightmare on Elm Street!) where Catherine tells her a thing or two. Orgies, double-fisting, and sex scenes that will probably get this movie banned in some counties follow, as well as Helms' undoing and Natasha's sort-of redemption.
The filmmakers stress that the narrative would be lessened by the removal of sex scenes (thus no Pirates G rating) and that the sex would be meaningless without the narrative. I agree. That the main character uses sex to dominate and humiliate his underlings requires there to be a lot of rough sex in the unfolding of a story about a ruthless man. But the movie isn't fun. The thought of rubbing one out to this movie seems as far-fetched as having Nick Cave sing at your two-year-old's birthday party.
What the movie is is technically adept. It is well-shot, well-lit, and well-acted for a porn film. That Pryor used a "stunt cock" (Chris Cannon stood in for Pryor's sex scenes) presents a dilemma. Were Pryor to be nominated for Best Actor at next year's AVN awards (and he should), he would be the first actor in a non-sex role to be so honored. There is a category for Non-Sex roles, though those parts are usually cameos; Pryor is in most of the film.
We know that Academy Awards boost sales of movies that receive them. I am not sure what getting an AVN award does for sales. Past winners like Fashionistas and Pirates sold well prior to their awards. Corruption, which seems to be a lock for nominations in several categories, holds a mirror to a world of wealthy older guys in suits surrounded by sexually submissive women. If that isn't Porn's entrepreneurial class, I don't know what is.
The question is, will the people giving out awards next year like the reflection?
Corruption opens with a quote from Caligula Caesar. Another big-budget porn movie, Bob Guccione's Caligula, opened with a line from the Book of Matthew (“What profiteth a man to gain the world but lose his soul?”) that would have been appropriate for "Corruption", too.

The Technical Stuff
Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are very well done. The audio is extremely well done, and doesn't have anything close to a background noise to interfere with the action rather than helping it out. The video is also very good, starting with an anamorphic widescreen presentation that's nicely smooth throughout the movie. It has an artistic feel that blends in a bit of black and white footage, and there's also a fair amount of footage that's filtered or tinted. There are times when the artistic styles interfered with the movie a little for me, but at the same time there were many places where it helped the movie out.
Music: There's a little music here and there throughout the movie. It's normally well balanced, and never lasts too long.
Menus: The main menu has a dark feeling that works very well for the movie and blends several clips from the movie with a little animation. The chapter menu is about the only generic thing about this release, and lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and a chapter number.
The Feature
David Walker Helms (Bryn Pryor) knows just how much power he wields. He's the first Republican senator from California in a decade, and as such is a rising star that has a very strong chance at leading the 2008 presidential ticket. His wife Caroline (Kylie Ireland) has done much to get him there, but his attention is going more and more to his sex slave mistress Natasha (Hillary Scott). I was completely amazed at the fisting here, as well as being a little surprised that there wasn't any double penetration action. Bryn's presence in the background also gives it a different feel, as he's completely detached through almost all of it. This is a surprisingly hot orgy scene.
Corruption is an adult movie like few others have ever been. Unlike so many other adult movies, the sex and plot play off each other extremely well, and actually enhance each other. There were several scenes that on their own probably wouldn't have done a lot for me, but in the framework of the movie ended up working very well for me. There's also a lot of darkness through the entire movie.
The non-sex side of Corruption is very dark. Eli Cross has some wonderful cynicism about modern day politics (something way too many people seem to have any more), and I think that helped the movie work for me because there were many things he had in the movie about greed and power that echo my own thoughts. That greed and power drives the movie, and being corrupt makes things quite dark with few characters coming close to being likable. Just as impressive is that he doesn't take any political shots at one side or the other. Yes, Helms is a Republican, but here that serves him as a sign of how powerful he is rather than having him be a Republican to preach on the so-called good of the Democrats. The story doesn't pull any punches, and the darkness fits it very well.
The cast does a great job playing the darkness, with every major player doing a fantastic job. I was really surprised to see Eli aka Bryn Pryor taking the lead himself, and going in I couldn't help but be nervous about it. After watching the movie, I'm not sure who else would have done it quite as well. There's a great sense of power to him, and he plays the range needed for the movie extremely well. Kylie is just as good in her role, but the ones that really took the cake for me were Hillary and Alana. Hillary is fantastic as the “little girl” who's blind to her master's dark side, and her performance here should easily win her an award for best performer of the year. Alana's role in the movie is much more limited, but I can't remember the last time I've seen an actress turn in a supporting role as good as she did here, and that includes mainstream movies. Alana's solo scene was disturbing, but at the same time I couldn't think about looking away due to how well she did it. There isn't a single person in Corruption who comes close to turning out a bad performance, but Bryn Pryor, Hillary Scott, and Alana Evans really stand out throughout the movie.
The sex in Corruption is also covered in darkness. There are times it didn't work for me, with Stacy Thorn sticking out in my mind as the most sexually distasteful person in the movie due to her role and personality, but but even when the sex didn't work for me I couldn't deny that it was very well done and fit the movie. There's anywhere between a fair amount of slapping and a lot of slapping in each scene, as well as choking, spitting, and guns to let the people know they better play ball. There's also anal in all but a couple scenes, and even when the sex tries to lighten things up a bit it comes off as hard and nasty. That isn't anything close to a complaint here, as this type of sex fits the movie almost perfectly. The only time it didn't feel quite right to me was in Hillary's scene with James Deen, as this seems like it should be a loving scene rather than one where James throws Hillary around, slaps her, and chokes her. Of course, the main thing people are going to talk about is the fisting, and even that fits into the movie with the level of depravity the characters are involved in. Corruption might not have the soft cuddly sex that most people associate with features, and the sex might not have always worked the best for me, but it does all fit the movie extremely well.
In the end, I can't help but recommend Corruption. Yes it's dark and some of the scenes were far from behind a turn on for me. At the same time, it all works extremely well with the sex and the story blending in a way that they almost rely on each other and more often than not, strengthen each other. It's like what might happen if somebody like David Fincher decided that he should try porn rather than limiting himself to mainstream movies. Although the sex is dark, it also has some good heat, and there's fantastic performances from the entire cast throughout the entire movie. Corruption is definitely a movie that won't be for everybody, but if it interests you at all, make sure you check it out.
The Extra Stuff
The only extra on the two feature DVDs is an audio commentary. Eli Cross is joined by Kylie Ireland, Hillary Scott, Ren Savant, and Belial in talking about pretty much anything that comes to mind. Eli doesn't hold much of anything back talking about the performers, which is a nice relief compared to the commentaries when nobody can say a harsh word about anything. They also talk about the locations, the problems they ran into, and why they did things certain ways. Kylie adds quite a bit to the commentary, with Hillary chiming in occasionally as well. Belial and Ren have a few comments too, but often are lost in the background coming in quite a bit quieter than everybody else. It's a very good commentary, and the audio imbalance is the only complaint I can have about it.
A third DVD is devoted entirely to extras. Trailers are included for Corruption, as well as Desperate Wives, LA Vice, Memories of Mika Tan, America's Next Top Porn Model, Girl Talk, and Decline of Western Civilization Part 69: The Porno Years. There are also several photo galleries, featurettes, even more sex, and I-Pod download, and commercials.
Several photo galleries are included. The behind the scenes gallery lasts a little over nine minutes, the production gallery lasts a little under eight minutes, and the hardcore gallery lasts a whopping twenty two minutes. In each case you get about six seconds per fairly average looking snapshot or full screen photo. There's also a glamour shot gallery which includes the entire female cast and is broken down by girl. For each girl you get between a minute and a quarter and two and three quarters, with most galleries lasting about two minutes. This is a very nice collection of photos, and a great way to get a quick look at the movie.
The behind the scenes featurette lasts just over forty minutes and is presented in the full frame format. It's broken down day by day, and features Kylie behind the camera. The first day starts out with fun on the boat, seasickness, and a director who isn't afraid to admit his shortcomings when the scene runs over. The second day starts with Eli and Alana in the makeup chairs before moving to the hotel where they get ready for Eli's speech. There's a little of the scene being shot and prepared before moving into day three where Eli gets ready to do the union ”negotiations” scene with Herschel and his goons. Alana and Tyler's scene is the next day, with Ren following Alana into the bathroom when she has to pee and Eli having a little fun watching. The fifth day finds them in the boiler room and alt-boy James Deen fighting his makeup followed by day six where he gets the snot beat out of him. There's also a bit of the crew talking about how they met Eli, Eli showing his gift at communication, and the crew's experiences with the groundskeeper. The ninth day is orgy day, and starts with the cast getting ready before moving into the orgy room where the cast hangs out and Eli lets them know the plan. There's even a bit of the action being shot and chatting with the cast. Finally, there's day ten, where Eli masters the music box, Alana does her breakdown, and Eli chats about the throat cutting. This is a pretty good behind the scenes featurette. It focuses heavily on Eli and what he's doing, which isn't a bad thing with the magnitude of the movie. Surprisingly, however, there's very little of Hillary in the featurette and very little chatting with the cast. That's one of the things I always enjoy with a behind the scenes featurette, and I think would have made this a lot friendly featurette for the porn viewer. As is it's oriented very much towards the person who's interested in the making of the movie in general rather than the porn fan. Perhaps the thing that made this stand out most to me was that Red Ezra was on set doing the pretty girls, who has shot some of the best behind the scenes featurettes out there due to what appears to be a great relationship with the girls. This is a nicely done behind the scenes featurette, but it's oriented in a direction that might disappoint a few porn viewers.
The pre-production behind the scenes featurette lasts about fifteen minutes in the full frame format with Kylie Ireland behind the camera. This featurette is basically Eli sitting back as he lays out the movie with Ren Savant, Nic Danger, and others. He talks about what he wants visually, why he's playing Helms, and the details for several of the characters. There's also several casting sequences and a fun phone call with Tyler. It's a very nice featurette that's really interesting if you're at all interested in what happens before the cameras start to run. I don't remember seeing many featurettes like this, and really enjoyed it.
The out-takes reel lasts about twelve minutes and is presented in non-anamorphic widescreen. There's a bit of Eli working towards the throat cutting as well as plenty of flubbed lines with him. There's also plenty of the action being stopped for things going on around the set outside of their control. The flubbed lines continue throughout the rest of the cast while mixing in a few others happenings around the set, such as fighting seasickness for the boat scene. It's a nicely done blooper reel, and worth checking out if you enjoy them.
Uncut Scene - Hillary Scott and Chris Cannon

The technical aspects are very well done and there's also plenty of effort put into the extras. This is an amazing DVD release that definitely is worth checking out and the big bucks.

Corruption tells the lurid tale of a tragically dysfunctional relationship between David Walker Helms, a ruthlessly ambitious senator from California, and his sex slave Natasha (played by Hillary Scott). Helms wants to control everything and everybody around him. Even worse, he wants to be President of the United States and control the world.
Even though the senator is evil incarnate (he needs an exorcist more than he needs electoral college votes), the women around him adore him--or at least hitch their wagons to his rising star. Helms' slave Natasha loves him deeply and naively because he was once good to her dad and saved him from bankruptcy. Natasha will do anything for Helms.
Helms' wife Carolyn, played to a tee by adult legend Kylie Ireland, doesn't really love him. But, she needs him to fulfill her equally overpowering lust for power (think how Hillary used Bill Clinton). However, Carolyn doesn't need Helms for sex. Instead, she eagerly takes on multiple male partners under the nose of her husband--who doesn't seem to give a shit.
Helms' assistant, Perkins (perfectly portrayed by Alana Evans), worships the ground on which he walks and even conspires to rid him of Natasha when she and Mrs. Helms sense that Natasha is becoming a liability. At first, one senses that there's a spark of good in Helms. After all, he adores his sex slave Natasha and even does battle with his wife and assistant to keep her near. However, Helms eventually learns that Natasha has been unfaithful and literally throws her to the wolves. He shows himself to be exactly what he is...evil to the core.
Corruption centers around Natasha and what she'll do to make Helms happy. She endures an enormous butt-plug shoved up her ass by Helms' jealous assistant Perkins. She readily submits to a humiliating encounter with a senatorial colleague of Helms, Paul Gennero (played by Herschel Savage). Despicable Gennero, while unwittingly being videotaped by Helms, orders compliant Natasha to act like a young boy so that he can live out a perverse fantasy to play a priest butt-fucking a young male penitent. Of course, Helms uses the lurid videotape to keep Gennero in line. Natasha also willingly lets herself be raped by Helms' wife Carolyn and a couple of his male goons. As the plot unfolds, Carolyn Helms comes to the conclusion that Natasha has got to go in order to protect Helms from damaging negative publicity. So, she, in cooperation with Perkins, has Natasha kidnapped by a couple of Helms' thugs and taken to a dilapidated factory where she forcefully rapes Natasha. Natasha will not give in to Carolyn's force. Instead, she decides to enjoy herself and, in her words, becomes Carolyn's new "best friend." After Carolyn tires of using Natasha, she gives her over to the thugs who kidnapped her (Steve Holmes and Jenner). Natasha then endures a violent threeway and double penetration. Afterward, the guys leave poor Natasha nude and chained to some machinery in the factory.
Unbeknownst to the senator and his entourage, a reporter named Alan (James Deen) notices Natasha in the background at Helms' public appearances. Alan starts to trail Natasha to see if he can dig up some dirt on the senator. Serendipitously, Alan follows Natasha when Carolyn abducts her. So, he captures Natasha's violation on film, rescues her, and hides her in his home. Natasha pays Alan back by loving him in the only "sweet" sexual scene in the movie. She also falls in love with him. So, Alan's fate is sealed: not only will Helms do anything (including murder) to hide his wife's indiscretions with Natasha, but also he'll never accept the fact that Alan alienated Natasha's affections. Of course, Alan ends up dead.
Natasha suffers greatly because she falls in love with Alan. Even though Helms promises to keep Alan safe--if Natasha will play a submissive to Stacy Thorn and Mark Davis--he ends up dead. Natasha ends up under the permanent "supervision" of maniacal Stacy and Mark.
Once Natasha and Perkins are out of the way, Helms and his wife cruise to his party's nomination for president. To celebrate, Helms throws a decadent orgy during which he remains on the sidelines--bored, it appears--and watches as numerous friends and associates, including his wife, revel in pleasures of the flesh.
Commentary:
Clocking in at a little over four hours, Corruption is the longest adult feature I've ever experienced. My review, however, can be summed up in two syllables: "Buy it!"
OK, I know you want to know more before you plunk down your money. However, instead of giving you a position-by-position look at the sex in the movie, I'm going to tell you why you should buy Corruption. I simply don't want to give away much of this movie's power. You need to see it for yourself.
Corruption is one of the most significant adult dramas ever made. It may very well be the most significant ever made. However, since I haven't seen every adult drama, I can't say for certain!
If you think of your own movie viewing experiences, you know that there are some films that have really made you think...that kept you up late at night pondering the implications the story has for the world. For me, one such movie was Braveheart. I don't know about you, but there has never been a time that the plot of an adult movie kept me up pondering its implications. I lost two nights sleep thinking about Corruption. It's that powerful!
A couple of themes in Corruption really bothered me. First, if our politicians are anywhere near as bad as Helms, his wife, and his colleagues, we, as a people, are in more trouble than I ever imagined. A second theme that bothered me is Natasha's blind loyalty--and obvious infatuation with--such a bastard as Helms. Why did she have to be so naïve? She lost everything because of her faithfulness to Helms and her willingness to give up every shred of her respectability to please him.
Corruption marks a truly remarkable milestone for Hillary Scott. Truth be told, a year ago I considered Hillary to be a cute-as-a-button (in her own description of herself) "ass-whore." By that time, she had demonstrated her remarkable sexual prowess and I was proud to nominate her for several X-Rated Critic's Association (XRCO) awards. However, 2006 saw a remarkable transformation in Hillary's performances. I hope this next comment doesn't offend--because it wasn't meant to do so. I also think that Eli is to be applauded for choosing a variety of performers who are not all necessarily Barbie-doll-like perfectly-sculpted toys. DVD Perspectives:
Video (technical): The widescreen video is absolutely superb in every regard. Pay particular attention to the lighting and how it alters the look and feel of each scene. Also, savor the excellent use of special effects, especially when Helms reveals his truly devilish inner self. This movie is not pretty porn cast in flattering light. It's hard core, and the lighting, camera angles, and special effects convey that hardness skillfully. I must also applaud the editing, which is tight and effective, never causes a loss of continuity, and demonstrates the talent of the editor. Five stars.
Audio (technical): Again, the audio is the work of truly talented and skilled artists and technicians. Excellent music and sound effects support the on-screen action perfectly. I especially liked the anxiety-producing sounds and music--perfectly coupled with the on-screen action--that is used when Hillary is being fucked by Steve Holmes and Jenner. Even though the soundtrack is an integral part of the experience, it never obfuscates the sounds of sex. To top it all off, there's a full-length running commentary soundtrack to which you might care to listen. Truthfully, I didn't spends more than a few minutes listening to the commentary because the on-screen action and the "normal" soundtrack were too interesting to me. Five stars.
Extras: Corruption is presented on three DVDs. Discs One and Two each contain two hours of the feature. Disc Three is a chock-full DVD-9 disc containing a 40-minute day-by-day Behind-the-Scenes feature; a 15-minute featurette that chronicles the movie's preproduction stages; 12 minutes of bloopers; a director's cut (extended) look at the opening scene during which Hillary blows Bryn's cock; trailers for Corruption and other SexZ releases; numerous self-running glamour, hardcore, BTW, and production slide shows; and website information. There's also an iPod Download feature that didn't work on my DVD because the required file wasn't burned onto the disc. Five stars.
Aesthetics: Director Eli Cross used absolutely appropriate locations, sets, and props when the movie was filmed. From dilapidated factories to powerboats to elegant bedrooms--each location perfectly supported the action taking place. In addition, the choice of costumes and make-up is appropriate (not always attractive, but in keeping with the plot). As I mentioned under "Audio" above, the soundtrack is as good as any mainstream movie. Five stars.

My Review
Simply put, Corruption is my pick for 2006 porno of the year. The combination of sex action and plot in this 3-disc feature is top notch and deserve to be the main mantelpiece for SexZ Pictures. If there is any movie that should define the liberty of free speech, then this porno should be the case study and credit to SexZ and Eli for pushing the boundaries. The sex action is not soft in any sense. The sex is hardcore and filled with debauchery ranging from dom/sub, squirting, double vag, double anal, DP’s, fisting (vag and anal), face slapping, and verbal abuse. More on the sex later.
The performances led by Hillary, Kylie, and Alana are outstanding both in the sexual and acting performances. As for Eli Cross, his turn as the corrupt senator is performed masterfully and his only sex part is getting a BJ from Hillary in the opening scene.
Senator Helms is seeking his party’s presidential nomination and he is willing to do anything that his position of power affords. That includes using the services of his whore, Natasha, and her holes to whatever means he can so he can preside over the political cesspool. The senator’s chief of staff, Sarah, provides her unabashed support and does what she can to further his agenda but has a clear disdain for Natasha. Caroline, the lovely wife, isn’t willing to play second fiddle to Natasha and is jealous of her husband’s infatuation with her.
This movie pulls no punches in painting a very unfavorable look at politicians, especially in our current political climate. Also, religion and its influence in the political realm isn’t left unscathed either. Early in the flick, the senator uses Natasha in a blackmail scheme against a mob figure (Hershel Savage) by secretly videotaping their tryst. Religion sneaks in when the mob guy asks Natasha to role play as a sinful parishioner with the mob guy as a priest. The priest provides absolution to the sinned Natasha by worshipping her holy trinity of holes. This scene has created some controversy as some reviewers have been appalled with this bashing of religion. I have only two points to make to these critics: (1) don’t forget that you are reviewing a porn movie and (2) Ted Haggard. ‘Nuff said.
Carolyn’s jealousy leads to the first memorable sex scene. Carolyn lures Natasha to an industrial basement facility to remind Natasha that she is just a whore. Carolyn dominates her by putting her down verbally mixed in with some face slapping. Natasha sees through the jealousy and taunts her with verbal putdowns. All the while, Carolyn is fingering Natasha aggressively and gets Natasha to service her orally. In a slight turn of events, Carolyn makes Natasha use a dildo in Carolyn’s ass. Having had enough, Carolyn turns Natasha over to the bodyguards (Steve Holmes and another guy) and the guys have their way with her including hardcore anal and DP action. The guys leave her shackled as per Carolyn’s orders and she is rescued by a reporter (James Deen) who has been trailing her. A great extended scene, especially with the dom/sub overtone.
The next scene is worth mentioning as well. The senator learns that Sarah played a role in Natasha’s absence. Even with Sarah’s tearful admission of love for the senator and doing only what was best for the senator, he exacts his form of revenge. He commands the apologetic Sarah to strip and beg for the right to love him. He directs her to play with her pussy while further demeaning her and her feelings. Some dildos appear and Sarah is told to fuck her own pussy, ass, and eventually both at the same time. This scene was hot beyond belief. Viewers who don’t like verbal domination will want to skip this scene as Sarah is teary eyed the entire scene and David is just stone-cold in his disdain of Sarah as he gets Sarah to give up Natasha’s location. The momentum proceeds onto the next scene. Caroline is home in bed with 2 guys (Alex Sanders and another dude) and these guys go to town on her. However, when Natasha learns of the reporter’s demise, it is too late for her as she realizes too late that David has sold her as a sex slave to doms played by Mark Davis and Staci Thorn.
The movie ends with the most memorable scene. The senator sits back on a lounge chair and we can only assume thinking of Natasha as an orgy takes place in the room. The orgy includes Sandra Romain, Ariana Jollee, Annie Cruz, Alana, Kylie and some more girls and of course, some meat puppets. All I can say is "Wow." It's going to be very, very difficult to ever watch another non-gonzo adult film ever again.
Why? Because this bad boy is the straight-up Godfather of adult entertainment. As I watched it, I could only keep wondering, How the hell is anyone ever going to be able to top this? And more important, who's gonna have the balls to try?
Yes, the film is shocking. Yes, it's brutal. Yes, it's unflinching. But it needs to be. The story calls for it. To give the viewer anything less would be a total cop-out. Writer-director Eli Cross never second-guesses the audience, and he never backs off.
Simply put, this is a film about some very highly damaged people. You wouldn't want to know folks like this and, if you do, then I'm not sure I want to know you.
David Walker Helms (Eli Cross) is the first Republican senator in California in a decade...and the most ruthless son-of-a-bitch you'll ever meet. When he isn't plotting his utterly calculated rise to power, he is ruthlessly toying with those around him -- had he not gotten into politics, he would have made an excellent serial killer. And as portrayed by Pryor, he is pitch perfect. He is Jim Jones, he is the anti-Christ, he is Dracula, freshly arisen from the grave and ready to fucking roll.
As Natasha, Helms' sex slave, Hillary Scott gives an amazing performance. Her portrayal of the dehumanized girl is never anything less than totally believable; she’s way in over her head, and we believe her every step of the way. She maintains her sullen stoicism throughout all of the degradation and horror that is done to her, clinging stubbornly to her sanity when BAM! The bottom finally falls out from beneath her feet. Her breakdown scene is nothing short of superb. Scott makes Natasha’s agony palpable.
Cross populates his film with a wide array of completely believable characters played by memorable actors. In an odd turn of events for an adult film, he actually chose people who fit their parts rather than grabbing whoever was available that day to shove in there.
The sexuality: There's a darkness to it, a violence that seeps out and permeates the surrounding edges of the camera frame. You know how you watch a gonzo film and keep thinking, "Is it necessary to slap her around and degrade her like that?" In this film, there's a point to it all. This isn't a "sex for the sake of sex" movie. The main themes of the film are domination and power, and the sexuality has to reflect that. How Cross did this while somehow eroticizing degradation is beyond me.
The "Bless Me Father" scene is a triumph of musical bravado and stark imagery. It's deeply horrific and yet strangely beautiful to watch; like someone once said about Kramer on Seinfeld, "He is a loathsome, offensive brute ... yet I cannot look away."
And that's what sets this film apart: The film has real weight -- emotional, physical, spiritual weight -- that I've never seen before in an adult film. It's dark and horrible but fascinating to look at, like a newly formed bruise.
I gave a shit about Natasha; I gave a crap about Alan Cavanaugh, the reporter played by James Deen. I wanted to see Helms get his comeuppance -- or whatever it was that was finally coming to him. I can honestly say that I have never been emotionally invested in an adult film before this one.
Another outstanding thing I have to mention is the overall production quality. This isn't an on-the-fly production. The lighting guy knew what he was doing. The production designer knew what he was doing. Nic Danger, the cameraman, knew what he was doing. This ain’t your father’s old school stag film. This is a thoughtfully laid out film with a good story, great visuals and actual consequences for all of its characters, and the success of films like this and Pirates proves that today's consumers want to see high quality, story-driven adult entertainment.
I found myself marveling at the juxtaposition of music, editing and narrative in many moments of the film. Many of them, again, echo themes similar to the Godfather films. And if I had to complain about anything in the film, it's that a few of the sex scenes are too long. (Yes, I am the first porn reviewer in history to ever complain about that. Someone call the folks at the Guiness Book of World Records.)
With its ambiguous ending, I have to say that I can't wait to see what Cross has in store if he plans to shoot a follow-up. I would love to see a Godfather II-like sequel that shows us Helms’ rise to presidential power while occasionally flashing back to show us the bloody details of his beginnings in politics. (Just do us a favor, Eli, and have mercy. Do what Coppola should have done and wrap things up without the crappy Part III!)

Welcome fans to a new review, my first for SexZ Pictures and this is one of those "Event" movies people will be talking about for awhile. You have a politician who is planning a run for the Presidency in 2008 and he's got quite the alternate lifestyle that if his supporters found out about he wouldn't even get elected city dog catcher. This movie is definitely dependent on the performances of the actors to make the storyline work and work believably. I can honestly say and I'm not a huge feature fan by any stretch that each person who had a major role in this did a real good job. The two main players I would say are Bryn Pryor as David Helms and he cooly pulls off the dual role of savvy politician and then he switches on a dime to being quite the sadistic power mad master of his domain. I didn't for a second doubt him in this role and if you don't despise this man by the time the movies over you haven't been watching. You think Bill Clinton was a sex freak, this guy trumps him by miles. The other performance that has to be praised to the highest levels is Hillary Scott. She's proven time and time again to be a premier gonzo fucker and now she adds some serious acting skills in this movie along with her trademark energetic fuck scenes. She has three really good scenes in this. The first was a two man scene in a wherehouse that takes place after Kylie Ireland has given Hillary all she could handle in a rough g/g scene.
Miss Ireland is playing the part of politican wife and she's every bit as freaky with her sex drive as hubby is. She doesn't like the effect Hillary's character has on her husband so she makes a play to get rid of this nuisance and she pretty much succeeds. That was another thing in this movie, very good dialogue and I didn't detect to much "porno" acting, there was a little but that was early on in the movie and I'd say everyone really did a stand up job playing their parts. Ok after Kylie was done venting her sex on Hillary she turns her over to Jenner and Steve Holmes who finish up fucking the super asswhore doing the dp deal and leaving her behind chained when they were done. Enter James Deen who's playing the ambitious news reporter hot on the trail of a story though he doesn't know fully what he's got until he sees Kylie dominating Hillary and he snaps some photos. Well he ends up saving Hillary and the two go back to his loft where they bond and of course get it on in another good Hillary scene. The Senator finds out what wifey does and after Kylie has a tryst with Alex Sanders and Jenner he interrupts to find out where Natasha is-- that'd be Hillary. Kylie doesn't know but it's not long until James and Hillary are discovered- he left his prints at the scene. Well Mr. Helms is not to happy with his fuck toy so he ships Hillary off to Staci Thorn and Mark Davis for some more aggressive sex and Hillary goes along on the promise if she cooperates this will save James. However, we know already he's a goner as the Senator has his goon do some electro shock interrogation to make sure no copies of those photos have gotten out so James doesn't make it as we see a paper headline notifying the public of his death. Well when Hillary finds out she goes ballistic but Mark shoves her in a room on his boat and this is the last we see of her in the movie. At this same time Hillary discovers Alana Evans bound and gagged in the same room and she was the assistant to David Helms who helped get Hillary out of the way earlier so she gets taken care of but not before Always Nasty Alana professes her love for David and he just toys with her so evily too making her play with her pussy and fuck herself with a dildo but no pleasure was derived by Alana as David just watches and barks out orders. I'd also be remiss to not mention the very good and I mean very good scene Hillary does with Hershel Savage near the start of this movie. He's trying to get the Senator to drop a bill in congress he doesn't like and David says well it's going to the floor-- meaning for a vote but it doesn't necassarily have to pass as he had cosigned on this piece of legislation. Well he gets Hershel in a back room with Hillary and the two play priest/ confessor with Hillary confessing her sins!! Lots of great dirty talk here by Hillary along with some good fucking ending with a swallowed pop. Naturally David was watching the whole time on his laptop and this tryst was also taped so when he doesn't do with the bill what Hershel's character wants he can discreetly send this to him to get his silence. There was so much to see in this dvd and this scene happened early on but it's one of the better ones so I had to mention it.
Well to wrap up the dvd we get a long group fuck session with some pretty big name performers-- Ariana Jollee, Sandra Romain, Kylie, Annie Cruz, and Jordan Styles. There's a lot of fucking going on as David sits impassively watching and it's like he's finally king of his empire but what does he really have. We have learned before this scene that James Deen's character had indeed saved some copies and they arrive on the desk of his editor who was feeling it for telling James to go after the story when he first brought it to him. So I'm thinking those pictures will come out and all that hard work put in by Carolyn-- that's Kylie's character, and David will go down in flames. There is no ultimate solution given, though, I'm just speculating on what could happen if those pics got out and I'm thinking they would have since his friend was killed. This was my second big time feature to watch this year and between the two I liked this one better and think several awards might be coming the way of a few people who starred in this as well as the film itself. Top notch production on this so far as I could tell. The energy was appropriate for each scene and I can't stress enough how good Hillary was in this, her fans will want to pick this one up for sure as she does all the nasty things you like from her plus she shows off some good acting skills. Kylie Ireland fans too will want to give this a look as she shows off her dominating powers in that scene with Hillary and then she does a fine job in her 2 on 1 with Jenner and Alex Sanders even doing double anal in a couple positions. This is a three disc set and the last disc is devoted to the extras which are some behind the scenes, some pre- production BTS, bloopers and with such a serious movie I can imagine there were some light hearted moments and I bet they kept everyone loose. There is also an uncut version of the bj Hillary gives to start the movie and who wouldn't want to revisit seeing this gorgeous gal suck dick. One other thing in the orgy scene to wrap up the movie I could swear Sandra Romain fisted Kylie's pussy and you get a pretty good shot of this so that was surprising but also hot to see. Summary
Probably the highest compliment I can give this 4 hour DVD, is that it in no way FELT like a 4 hour DVD. No BS, just like watching 'Godfather 1& 2', or 'The Good, the Bad, & the Ugly'... time just flies on, as you are in rapt attention to the story and action unfolding on screen in front of you. Now I suppose you could just skip on over to all of the various hotter than the sun sex scenes, but DON'T. The contextual linkage here between dialog and sex is first rate, and it truly ups the kink/enjoyment factor. Great sexual AND acting work here by this cast... especially noteworthy were Alana, Herschel, Bryn, Kylie... and above all, Hillary. Kudos all. I have not seen 'Fashionistas Safado', but to me, hands down, this needs to be deemed THE porn of 2006. The perfect combination of talent, sex and story combine to make Corruption an astonishingly great release, to be enjoyed over and over again.

Extra's: The best extra for me would've been the inclusion of a WMV-HD version of the movie (playable on Windows Media 9 and above). To date, the only other porno offering such an extra was Pirates; one of the most successful releases in the history of the genre. While not as completely high quality as one of the upcoming HD-DVD or Blu-Ray DVD titles, it would've added more detail and the graphic excellence of a computer monitor so while I think the powerful message of the movie is best viewed on a larger screen, preferably with a group of friends, this could've added something special to the three disc release. Sadly, the compression rate required for such an extra would've lowered the quality too much to make it worthwhile (though it could still happen when the 4 disc special director's set is released in January). Otherwise, there were plenty of more traditional extras that set this one apart from the crowded field of the estimated 14,000 releases of the last year. The audio commentary by director Eli Cross, Kylie Ireland, Hillary Scott, cameraman Ren Savant, and producer Belial added even more depth to the already deep movie. I'm not going to spoil the plot twists and interesting anecdotes of the movie for you but unlike most porn commentaries, this one should be listened to as it helped explain some of the background events leading up to the movie, the politics behind some of the material, and how much attention was paid to the smaller details (with the group all having a good time with the discussion). Eli and Kylie dominated the commentary but considering their role(s) in the movie and its production, that makes a lot of sense (and they have both long struck me as a couple of the most intelligent people in porn-go read their respective blogs for some examples). There was a 41 minute long Behind the Scenes feature by Kylie Ireland Amber Rayne, and Fraulein Fist that was pretty cool too. A lot went on that seemed worthy of being documented with the additional sex and interview material easily worth inclusion on the set. On top of that was a pre-production Behind the Scenes feature lasting 15 minutes and providing more material from the point of view of the crew before the shooting ever started (it's always interesting to see how some ideas and situations change from the drawing board to the final copy; especially in porn. That was followed by about 12 minutes of Bloopers; the cast typically breaking up or flubbing lines in response to something a bit out of the ordinary. For fans of more sex footage, there was an 8.5 minute uncut version of the Hillary Scott blowjob on Chris Cannon worth checking out. Aside from being an anal princess for a long time (recently elevated to anal queen), her oral skills are such that if she doesn't win some major awards this coming season, it'll be because of who she DIDN'T blow rather than any lack of quality of her body of work. There was a well cut trailer for the movie, 4 really lengthy photogalleries, an I-Pod download, and some trailers for other projects by Sex Z Pictures. My copy also had a paper booklet outlining some of the salient facts about the movie and it was a truly double sided DVD cover for those who care. Lastly, at some time in the future, a downloadable director's cut of the movie with a longer fisting scene and other minor issues resolved (typically slight edits and technical touch ups) should be available from the company website.

Audio/Video Quality: Corruption was presented in the still relatively rare 16:9 anamorphic widescreen color as shot by director Eli Cross for Porn Faktory to be distributed by Sex Z Pictures. The movie reportedly cost over $160,000 to make and was shot in HD to enhance the look of the movie. While I can only imagine how cool a true HD presentation (in HD DVD or Blu-Ray) of the movie may be in the future, or even the reported HD-WMV made for the original planned release, it looked very well shot with the sexual footage as appealing as the plot elements; blending in both aspects nicely. The lighting was not the kind needed in a gonzo shoot (flat, harsh, and as if it were shot in the aisles of Walmart) but with numerous touches used to propel the story. The sex was shot in such a way that you could see what went on and with a nod to making the characters look exactly right for their parts, enhancing the stroke factor more than a little bit. Eli has the eye for capturing hot sex but typically finds himself at the mercy of time limits and budgets indicative of modern porn, thankfully not factors in this movie, so each scene seemed to convey what it was meant to convey with minor issues arising that really weren't a problem. The plotted elements were shot with similar care, looking like a cable movie made for a much higher budget with far better sex as a result. It should be noted that the editing was sublime, showing a lot of great work by Eli, Mark Logan, and Robin Dyer and as worthy of consideration for awards as other key aspects of the movie. There were no observed compression artifacts and I have to hand it to all involved for doing such a fine job at capturing the essence of the characters in such a way that they came to life more than you'd imagine could happen in a porno. The audio was presented in 2.0 Dolby Digital and this was one of those rare occasions when there was some separation between the channels (not just the music either). The dialogue was crisp and clear (the commentary made Eli sound like he was trapped in a deep well though) with a decent dynamic range. The music was not continuous but used to punctuate the sex and plot elements instead. It wasn't bad music but it could have used a bit more polishing up considering how nicely the visual elements were handled.
Body of Review: Eli Cross is one of those guys that has been in porn for a very long time in one capacity or another, now shooting as a director (and cameraman for his lovely partner Kylie Ireland) for a variety of companies under one name or another. His latest release is a title released by Sex Z Pictures (made by Eli's Porn Faktory) called Corruption. The movie is a feature porno designed to show the rise and fall of a demagogue seeking to move into higher political office reminiscent of many mainstream offerings of the past. Before I go too far into the review, it should be noted that the acting was greatly superior to any of the other movies I've watched this year (and you can go see for yourself how many titles I've reviewed, let alone watched). Starring Bryn Pryor as Senator David Walker Helms and Hillary Scott as Nastasha, his mistress and concubine; the movie was a detailed look at the ins and outs (and more ins and outs) of the shady world of politics. Aside from some great acting by the other performers, these two MADE the movie in terms of the plot, Hillary making significant contributions in the sexual areas of the movie as well. If you were hoping for a lot of fast forward fodder between the sex scenes, you'll be disappointed because the movie served to merge the feature and sex elements so completely that you'll miss out if you don't watch the whole thing as a whole rather than the sum of its parts. Conversely, if you were just looking for a feature full of couples sex, you've come to the wrong place as this one had stuff in it (described below) that you simply won't find from ANY of the gonzo companies, pushing the limits of porn back to where they were thirty years ago (but with a more attractive cast then the classics tended to have). Here goes:

Starting off with a quote, "Would that all of Rome had only one neck" by Caligula Caesar, the movie detailed the rise to power of a dangerous politician whose name was clearly an amalgamation of real life politicians (Walker for the President, Helms from Jesse). His ultra conservative politics show distain for the ideals the country was founded on and as he gives speeches, his mind shows the audience what he's really thinking of them. In many ways, his despotic character is established in subtle ways too; a tribute to the screenplay and director's ability to coax out award winning performances from a cast in an industry that is not typically known for caring about trivial matters such as this.
The Senator is powerful and ambitious, willing to go to any length to get what he wants and supported by followers willing to assist him in any way possible, trying to look to the future for a run at the big seat in 2008 (as President). The numerous self interests that deal with him also see his potential for dragging them along with him, with some minimal plot holes that didn't amount to much considering the scope of the project. Helms' only weakness is his mistress Natasha (Hillary Scott) and while she'll do anything he asks of her, he still treats her like shit, but HIS shit so when his supporters decide to get her out of the picture, he reacts in a single-minded manner to get her back at all costs. Getting in the way of this is an investigative rookie journalist who follows a lead that uncovers the relationship between the Senator and his mistress, making him a target for a whole lot of people that would rather he fail at uncovering their involvement in the matter. I'm not going to say anything else about the story aspect as it really does seem to stand on its own but this is the kind of rare porno that the sex and story are intertwined on far more levels than usual; both important to the story being told. That said, here's a quick look at the sex scenes, partial and otherwise, to give you an idea of what took place on that level too, noting that no condoms were used:
Scene One: Hillary Scott, the award winning hotty on the upper half of the front DVD cover, was up first as she blew the candidate (stunt cock played by Chris Cannon) while he prepared for a speech to his constituents. The scene was being recorded by Helms as a bargaining chip for later use, but those of you who have been fed up with religious types preaching one thing and practicing another will find this one particularly heated. As far as orgies go, it was not only the most extreme orgy I've seen on a domestically produced title, but it was very lengthy and had a lot of stroke and replay value (some of the best for both of those qualities in the twenty five years I've been watching porn). Summary: Corruption was final proof of my belief that director Eli Cross could make great porn that managed to be controversial, cutting (some would say bleeding) edge, and combine both feature and hardcore elements in such a way that Sex Z Pictures can now say that they have a title worthy of their stated goals. If you'd rather have fluffy feature porn with wooden acting, ditzy girls, and writing you could fit on the back of a matchbook cover, you'll see lots of that up for awards too but Corruption is the kind of movie you can get into as a MOVIE as well as a stroke flick of undeniable appeal. If it doesn't win scores of awards from AVN, FOXE, XRCO, X-Biz, and other industry sources, you can bet that it wasn't due to the quality of the sex, acting, direction, and writing that went into the movie. I like all kinds of porn and as a thriller, the bar has been raised well above the norm here, marking Corruption as clearly superior to anything on the market for the market it shoots for. As such, I couldn't rate it as anything less than a DVD Talk Collector Series, thanks in large part to hotty Hillary Scott's onscreen performance combined with Eli's role on both sides of the camera. For all intents and purposes, Corruption brings Sex Z Pictures into the big leagues. There is a director's cut planned for release next year (and for the company website) but if you want something that transcends the genre in more ways than I can count, Corruption is worth every penny in terms of replay and strokability. I never thought I’d see the day I’d watch a four-hour porn movie all in one sitting. A contributor to this website described the movie as relentlessly depressing… well Gram Ponante can suckle my taint because this movie isn’t depressing at all, it’s real. If there’s a more professionally acted, directed, and most importantly, written, porn movie in existence, I’ve never seen it.
Corruption tells the story of David Walker Helms (Bryn Pryor), a psychotic, perverted California senator who keeps his pretty young sex slave, Natasha (Hillary Scott), by his side in case he might need her to suck his cock or blackmail a rival. Unfortunately, Helms’ wife Caroline (Kylie Ireland) wants her husband to shoot for the presidential nomination in 2008, and she realizes Natasha could be a problem. When David won’t put Natasha aside, even temporarily, Caroline takes matters into her own hands and all hell breaks loose.
Everything about this production is amazing, and completely unlike any porno I’ve ever seen, except, perhaps, for some of Paul Thomas’ darker work. The cast all perform brilliantly, with Alana Evans, and even more so Kylie Ireland, giving the best performances of their careers; but the real surprise is Hillary Scott who shows genuine acting chops in this movie, from her smoldering glares at the beginning to her heartbreaking collapse at the end.
And then there’s Bryn Pryor, who is nothing short of breathtaking. If Corruption were a mainstream movie his turn as Helms, which manages to be super-creepy and pussy-dampening at the same time, would be Oscar-worthy. As this is a fuck-flick, it needs to be said that there’s no one in all of adult more deserving of a Best Actor trophy come January than Pryor.
It was all the more shocking, then, to learn while watching the BTS that Bryn Pryor and Eli Cross are one and the same! Now I’m really impressed!
Corruption is beautifully shot, skillfully edited, and looks more like a professional mainstream movie than anything I’ve seen in adult. The script is tight and well written. And then there’s the sex…
This is a nasty, dirty, filthy movie, and I’m just as shocked and impressed by the fucking as I am by the story. Everyone expects Hillary Scott to be an anal queen extraordinaire, and she certainly doesn’t disappoint. Every scene she has is a real killer, from her anal with Hershel Savage (during which she cries “hail Mary full of grace” with each thrust – it makes sense in context, but it’s no less twisted) to her scene with Mark Davis and Stacy Thorn, where she submits to being brutalized, takes an anal creampie from Davis, and then squirts it into Stacy Thorn’s hand and licks it up.
What I wasn’t expecting was the truly raunchy turn from Kylie Ireland, who seems to have decided to dispense with her contract girl veneer. First, Ireland essentially rapes Hillary before handing her off to Steve Holmes and Seth Dickens (I think), then she does an incredibly rough DP and double-anal with Dickens and Alex Sanders – and loves it. Just to prove she’s not fooling around, Kylie gets fisted by Sandra Romain in the final orgy sequence with one hand in her pussy and one in her ass! (and no, I’m not watching the European version; this is the regular American DVD).

That’s not to say every sex scene is completely off the hook. There’s something for everyone with a straight BJ that opens the movie (well, it’s really more of a story/character sequence than sex scene, but the uncut blowjob is included on the disc, without dialogue I presume), two straight boy/girl scenes, one from Alana & Tyler Knight, the other featuring Hillary and James Deen, and there’s a Sophia/Kelly Wells anal fourway with two guys I couldn’t identify. All of these “normal” sex scenes are the equal of anything you’re likely to see this year, they just pale in comparison to the one-upsmanship displayed by Hillary and Kylie in their scenes.
My favorite scene, however, is Alana Evans' solo which is fantastically stylized and deeply disturbing. When Helms catches Alana’s character, Perkins, colluding with Caroline, he psychologically dominates her into degrading herself by first stripping for him, and then fucking herself with a pair of dildos, with Alana sobbing raggedly through the entire experience.
Call me a girl with issues, but OH MY GAWD was that ever HOT! Not only is the scene cut to really twist the knife of what a sick fuck Helms is between your ribs, with multiple takes of him repeating his soulless patter, Alana’s performance is stunning. When she crawls across the floor to beg Helms to love her, I blushed and crossed my legs all at the same time.
Which, maybe tells you more than you need to know about me.
This is an unbelievable movie with a serious, realistic story, terrific performances, and a dark, gritty, wonderful script. I can’t wait for the sequel.
